What about the OTHER Dawgs?

We have a phenomenal football team here in Athens, but you knew that, right? I mean, what is fall without #SaturdayinAthens, the traffic, the tailgating, and of course, calling the Dawgs?

You would think that is all UGA Athletics has to offer!

But that would be a big mistake! In fact, this fall, UGA Athletics is making it’s mark in more ways than one.

With almost a dozen sports to choose from, your fall season should be all about them Dawgs!

Cross Country

Georgia has five regular season cross country meets scheduled before the SEC Championships arrive in Auburn, Ala., on Friday, Oct. 26.

The Lady Bulldogs will be gunning to qualify for two straight NCAA meets while the Georgia men are in search of their first berth since 2013 at the NCAA South Regional in Tallahassee, Fla., on Friday, Nov. 9.  The NCAA Championships are set for Saturday, Nov. 17 in Madison, Wisc.

While definately a little harder to cheer on, the finish line is an exciting place to be, and seeing the spectators and hearing the cheers could be the final push those Dawgs need to win!

Equestrian

Georgia equestrian will enter the 2018-19 season as the second-ranked team in the nation, as announced by the National Collegiate Equestrian Association selection committee.

Georgia comes in at No. 2, just behind conference rival and defending national champion Auburn University. All four Southeastern Conference teams rank among the nation’s top 10 with Texas A&M selected third and South Carolina checking in at No. 8.

The UGA Equestrian Complex in Bishop, GA is an amazing location to sit and take in the grace and beauty of the horses. Follow them on Facebook to keep up with the latest happenings!

Tennis

UGA Mens Tennis kicked off September 7th, and last week, three Georgia men’s tennis players went to Oklahoma for the 2018 Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-America Qualifiers.

On the women’s side, UGA has made 32 straight appearances in the NCAA Championships with last season’s Elite Eight showing. Georgia’s No. 7 final ITA ranking in 2018 marked the 29th time the Bulldogs have finished a year ranked in the top 10 under head coach Jeff Wallace.

Take a look at Bulldawg Illustrated to check out the teams schedule and catch up on the action.

Swimming

Our seven-time national championship swimming and diving program is lead by Jack Bauerle and Chase Kalisz who were both nominated for USA Swimming awards.

Competitive swimming is a challenging sport and one that is so fun to watch! It’s easy to get caught up in the excitement when everyone is cheering on the swimmers!
